Title: Coca-Cola Philippines Champions Environmental Sustainability at Subic Bay Coastal Cleanup

Date: September 24, 2022

In a notable demonstration of environmental stewardship, over 30 organizations converged at Subic Bay on September 17, joining forces in a massive cleanup operation. The event, part of the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), saw the enthusiastic participation of some 430 volunteers, who braved inclement weather to clean the coastline and waters of Subic Bay.

This endeavor was made possible through the combined efforts of Coca-Cola Philippines, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation. Volunteers, equipped with cleaning kits courtesy of Coca-Cola Philippines, engaged in the task of collecting and properly segregating waste under the guidance of the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation. Notably, employees from Coca-Cola Philippines, both from their Bonifacio Global City office in Taguig City and the North Luzon Commercial Unit of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, also contributed to the ICC.

The event at Subic Bay is a part of Coca-Cola Philippines' broader commitment to fostering a debris-free environment, aligning with the company's global 'World Without Waste' vision. This initiative highlights the company's proactive role in addressing the global challenge of plastic waste management.

Jonah de Lumen-Pernia, director for the Philippines Franchise, Coca-Cola Asean and South Pacific, emphasized Coca-Cola's dedication to this cause: "At Coca-Cola, we recognize our responsibility to help solve the global plastic waste problem. To help create a World Without Waste, we have a global goal to help collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle and can we sell by 2030."

Adding to this, Atty. Cashmer Dirampaten, director for public affairs, communications, and sustainability, Coca-Cola Franchise East Region, Coca-Cola ASEAN and South Pacific, expressed gratitude towards the volunteers: "We are grateful to all the volunteers who traveled to Subic, brought their family and friends, and chose to spend their Saturday with us doing the coastal cleanup."

This event not only signifies Coca-Cola Philippines' commitment to environmental sustainability but also serves as a rallying point for community involvement in ecological conservation efforts. The successful cleanup at Subic Bay stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collective action and corporate-community partnerships in pursuit of a cleaner, healthier planet.
